Exciting New Wines

We have just this week taken delivery of 2 new additions to our ever expanding Spanish wine range

Cellers Can Blau 2015

Monsant wines always offer an intriguing blend of Spanish richness and body along with a more international element of complexity and sophistication.

This Grenache and Carignan blend is authentic, wild and artisanal.

Bodegas Atalaya Laya 2015

Bodega Atalaya was founded by the Gil family in 2007. Although a young winery, the vines are old and the wines produced have been exceptionally successful both in Spain and internationally.

This wine is rich and full bodied, the flavour is of baked dark fruits, such as black cherry and blackcurrant coupled with exotic spice.

Whelehans Wines wins Best Fine Wine Merchants in Dublin ~ Sunday Business Post Gold Star Awards 2017

2348_009dWe are thrilled to announce our award for Best Fine Wine Merchants in Dublin in the Sunday Business Post’s  Gold Star Awards 2017.

“The winner in Dublin debuted last year at number 5 and has been a powerhouse of energy, expansion and delight over the last year. David, the son of the great TP Whelehan, the founder of wine criticism in Ireland who passed away this year, has distilled years of experience in the wine trade at every level and as a writer and broadcaster to create an experience that is sumptuous and hugely exciting, while being at the same time supremely practical.

Here you will find wide, well lit aisles, copious free parking and signage that is communicative perfection. A new benchmark for excellence in wine retail and a worthy winner.”

Tomás Clancy, Sunday Business Post, 1st January 2017

The Irish Times Magazine 23rd December 2016

For a party red wine try the lightly fruity Cepa Lebrel Joven for a remarkable €6.99

“Moving upmarket, Whelehan’s Wines have taken delivery of a delicious delicate dry Sancerre rosé (€19.95) that would be a wow at a posh drinks party. They also stock the Godello Luna Beberide (€19.95) that would make a welcome change from yet more Sauvignon Blanc, and a very attractive red Sancerre (€19.95), made from Pinot Noir, to complete the range. Their Champagne from Bénard-Pitois, is utterly reliable.”
