We have known and chartered the meteoric career of Michael Fragos over the last fifteen years. We and all that have tasted widely in Australia know that he is one of Australia’s top winemakers. When we learnt that he was fully ensconced in the legendary Chapel Hill vineyards our excitement was significant. On tasting a number of vintages from this estate it became obvious that if anything our excitement was understated.
McLaren Vale is renowned for the quality, power and grace of its wines. It is a region rich in history, being the birthplace of the South Australian wine industry and possessing a unique heritage including some of the world’s oldest grape vines and many characters recognised as the fathers of Australian wine.
Chapel Hill’s mantra is to produce wines with pure varietal and regional character. They strive to craft wines that display purity in regards to varietal and vineyard site characters, wines that have a deep soul and a sense of place. James Halliday the top Australian wine reviewer awards this winery a 5 star rating and scores many of its wines 95+. Our take - brilliant terroir wines with great ageing potential.
